Our Philosophy Fairview Christian Academy, an early childhood learning center, is a ministry of the Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene. The Academy is governed by the church's Board of Trustees. Our Academy strongly believes that every child placed in our care is a unique gift from God, created in His image. The Academy's foundation is based on the premise that all children in our care will recieve Christian love, care, and education in an atmosphere where Christ is the center of our lives. Staff members are required to demonstrate these qualities in dealing with children, parents, and other staff members. The church's "Associate Pastor to Families with Children" also serves as the chaplain for FCA children, families and staff. Our Objectives - To help the child become an accepted member of his group; to understand and live intelligently at his own level of development.
- To provide activities which will arouse and satisfy curiosity; to stimulate thinking, planning, reasoning, expermimenting, making decisions and evaluating results; to quicken powers of observations; and to widen and deepen interest and appreciations.
- To develop interest and skill in the use of equipment and materials that are suitable for and satisfying to each child.
- To help each child express himself effectively and creatively.
- To provide activities that will help the child develop better coordination.
- To acquant the child with basic Christian concepts and familiar stories and songs. It is not the intent of the teachers to impose doctrinal beliefs, but rather to present a concept of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit on a child's level of understanding, specifically as our loving Father, Savior and Friend.
The Christian Aspect As stated in our philosophy, FCA is strongly commited to the spiritual development of children in our school. We seek to provide each child with a basic understanding of the Christian faith through Bible stories, songs, games and activities. Included in our curriculum, are regular Chapel services. The children and staff gather together to participate in singing and worship experiences geared specifically for the young child. All are welcome to attend. See page 3 of The Bear Facts each month for our calendar of events. |
